There is one curious piece of information that has stayed with me from my years as a singing student. Such thing is this: "Your tongue is the biggest obstacle to Singing, yet it is one of the most powerful muscles in your body". And no wonder, as the tongue is highly responsible for holding our head upright, forming all the subtleties of our language, and helping digest our food. The tongue (the tongue is actually a group of 8 muscles), together with the diaphragm and the larynx (what a coincidence, the main Singing muscles!) are the only skeletal muscles that can function independently from the skeleton, that means you can move them without moving your 'frame', without being noticed.

Thought, Time & Breath
Have you ever experienced your breath stopping completely while in a very quiet state of mind and felt you didn't need to breathe, lose the sense of time and be cool with it? I have.
Rest & Thrive
Every day we have an incredible opportunity to connect to our life's purpose, through the mysterious activity of Sleep. But we often miss it. We dismiss our dreams, as we aren't educated to understand them. Our sleeping time is sacred, and it must be honoured accordingly. As we go about life, we accumulate a debt of hours of non-sleep, making our body suffer from the failure of regeneration. This lack of sleep makes us fail in decision making, in emotional responses, and in becoming disconnected from our sense of purpose (our life's calling) due to the fatigue created. Sleeping is the only time where those who can't let go of control, do let go π It's a gentle reminder of our mere human state.
Hygiene & Intention
This is, perhaps, an uncommon association of words, but that's why I am here, to break your patterns π It is my bias to enhance the importance of the unseen (our mind), as the place where everything else originates. As such, I'd like to say that as important as the consistency in our physical training, vocal exercises and nutrition, are also our hygiene habits and intentions that go along with them. For the composition of our body is not only nurtured with the nutrients and movement we give it, but also with the elements that penetrate it from the outside: the air, soaps/gels, make-up/fragrances, interaction with other human/non-human beings, electromagnetic radiation, sounds/noises, etc, and the will we impose upon our actions. All of these things are, of course, frequencies at different rates of vibration.
Muscle, Auras & Mind
Ahh... if we had full control of the power of our mind and build up muscle (or anything we wanted) without having to do the hard workπ. The Mind-Muscle connection. Something we often let pass unperceived. But before dwelling into this important aspect, if we want to optimize our "gains" in fitness, let's dive a… Continue reading Muscle, Auras & Mind
Breathing Exercises 2
This is a continuation of Breathing Exercises. Lie down on a comfortable flat surface (use a mat preferably). Make sure you minimize the gap between your waist and the floor, and between the back of your neck and the floor (feel your spine lengthening). Allow yourself to relax as if you were going to fall… Continue reading Breathing Exercises 2
