Beauty fades

He came yesterday, after twenty years,

to say: “Sorry, I wasn’t brave enough”.

We become older, not only in our skin, but in our core.

Not because of age,

but because of all the heartbreaks that unpainted its candor.

As the heart wanes, so does the glow, hopes and dreams.

Beauty fades, as it does its confidence.

It only stays alive in our soul.

I wonder if it will ever be this way…

Wait another twenty years for someone to come and say sorry,

and my beauty will fade a little bit more each time.
